40k 6th edition game summary charts and FAQs

While I might not get much time to play myself, I thought I might share these handy charts from the back of the new rulebook that should make it easier to learn the new edition. Of course you're going to need the rulebook to play the game as all the information is not on these summary pages, but they do give you a good bit of info and can help you pick up the new rules quickly during those first few games.

I've broken the information down into separate sections since not everyone will need all of the info. There are two downloads in this post, Game Summary and Psychic Summary in addition to a link to the new GW FAQs. As I get more time in the coming weeks and learn the new edition myself, I'll be posting my own summaries that are more like flow charts that I find super easy to follow. Until then, these should help.

Psychic Summary (Generation and Powers)
In case you don't want or need all of them and only want to download the one for your army, here are the individual power sheets:
Biomancy, Divination, Pyromancy, Telekinesis, Telepathy

Game Summary (Movement, Shooting, and Assault)
Games Workshop 6th edition FAQs

Enjoy and happy gaming!

  1. Those references sheets could prove very handy.

    Cheers for putting them up.

  2. Rictus: That's what I figured too. I thought posting them here might save the spines on a few ruleboooks out there and folks can keep their books for looking up specific rules while they play.

  3. I was hoping you were going to do this again. From all of my gaming group, THANK YOU!

  4. Lantz M: I'll be doing my own versions in the coming weeks as I wrap my head around all the new rules and can get them translated into some easy to read charts. Those will go up as soon as I can get them done.

    NW Crew: You're welcome!

  7. Ron, this is clearly breaching copyright. Hmmm. You should be careful, and everyone else, go buy the rule book. Not to your normal high standard fella, but just saying, obviously you are free to post what you like - normally you add to our gaming experience, but this is just repeating GW work? Maybe that comes across as strong, but felt I should say

  8. Siph: I appreciate your comment. Having these will not save anyone from buying the rulebook in any way, shape, or form. You will definitely need the rest of the rules (in the book) to be able to use these few sheets.

My intention was to save people from destroying their books by opening them to these last pages repeatedly and putting stress on the spine of the book. Do this enough times and the pages will come out. This is an expensive book to have pages start falling out of.

It would have been nice if they were perforated and could be taken out of the book, but that's not the case. I suspect most folks will make copies of these particular pages for easy reference so they you can flip through other rules while keeping these handy.

  9. Yeeeea, I have to say this is pushing it somewhat in the copyright department. In fact it's not even pushing it, this is flat out breaching copyright. Don't get me wrong, it's not like GW need defending, but outright posting bits of the rulebook isn't right. :/

  10. @the updated comment: That's completely irrelevant, and if GW WERE to take issue with it, they wouldn't care anyway.

Seriously, how many times are you gonna stress the spine that much? That's a pretty flimsy excuse. :/

And just saying people are gonna make copies anyway... well that's irrelevant too. It doesn't stop posting bits of the book being illegal. It's fine for people to copy this stuff for personal use but sharing it online isn't personal use is it? :P

  11. (sorry for the line of comments XD)

Don't get me wrong, your heart is clearly in the right place, it's just GW have been known to be very defensive with their copyright and I'd certainly hate to see anything happen to the blog.

A little on the tinfoil hat side of things? Kinda, but not totally unjustified. :(

  12. Thanks ron!
Now I only have to wait for the book (until next week :S)

  13. Sam: I appreciate your comments and the feedback that everyone has provided regarding the sheets.

Comments and opinions are never unjustified here, I only ask that folks keep it civilized. And everyone does that already.

  14. El Taller del Gnomo: While the sheets are handy gaming aids as mentioned, they are not the complete set of rules and as soon as your book arrives, you can get to work learning the new game.

There's lots to it, I started last night, but got caught up in the background stuff and sidetracked.

  15. Thanks for this, keeping me going til my book comes in the post. I find it hard to see real harm as when I first started I had trouble remembering stuff and the manager at the local gw store suggested I photocopy the summary page.

Is the Iron Hand pic from the rule book? I feel a conversion coming on :D

  16. skoby: It is from the book. There is lots of great art in there. Hopefully these will help you out with getting the new rules sorted too.

  17. If GW only pulled their finger out and updated their own reference sheets this wouldn`t be necesaary. I`ve looked at the guys who used their fantasy books for gaming and they are destoyed. I don`t mind $124 for the sexy book they produced, but I want it kept in great condition for that price and will use reference sheets in my game to aid in this goal.

  18. thanks. you're the best. I used your charts back in 5th ed. And now you did it again. All my bases to you!

  19. Adam: Yes, the book is a bit steep in its price and I'm trying to take care of mine as well. Glad these will help you out.

Zen: No problem, glad they help!

  21. Ron,

Thank you! Was just trying to work up the nerve to crack the spine on my new rulebook to do the same. Really appreciate it!

  25. In my case. I already bought the big book and the Dark Vengeance for the small book...plus a bunch of other models..and the psychic cards...If GW had make a quick reference sheet for $5 US I would have bought that too.

So, in my case you did not rob GW of anything...just made my gaming faster, easier, and better. Thank You.
