From the Warp in 2010

I know, I know... everyone posts their New Year's resolutions this time of year with grand plans and all that stuff.
Me, I'm not that stupid to try that this year.

I'm going to try and improve what I have right now and make that better before I set out to conquer the online 40k world. I've got plenty of work here to keep me busy for a full year.

Some of the coming changes...

Deathwing Collected Wisdom
The small Deathwing archive I started has been moved over to The Vanus Temple. There is a ton of great Deathwing stuff already there and instead of keeping lots of little archives, I thought it best to let the pros handle it.

The Commander's Field Handbook
Fellow FTW Blogger Pathfinder will be taking control of this one. With my schedule being what it is, I have no way of keeping up with this project and there is way too much great stuff already there to let it die. Pathfinder will take over now and I'll help when I can. I know he'll do a great job of continuing the army sheets.

Quick link bar at the top
I've added a link bar at the top so you all can get to the important stuff like the Tutorials and Downloads and such.

News and Updates
This section will have promo's of new stuff that's added to FTW. I believe it's even more important to showcase the stuff that is added here by members of the FTW Blogger Group with so many blogs out there these days.

Beneath it are individual links to FTW Blogger Group stuff (Collaborative Posts and Panel questions) and Weekly Features here on FTW so you can get to those with a single click.

My Work and Commissions
I've rounded up some of my extra junk and dropped it in here.
From hiring me, to my armies and games I've played... it's all in there now.

FTW Blogger Group Expansions
Yep, it looks like I may be adding a new expansion in the coming year if membership continues to grow. As more and more people start blogs to share the hobby, I'm slowly filling Expansion 1.
Once it's filled, I'll add the new one. That will mean over 500 blogs on the roll.

New Features
I'm constantly looking for new "features" to add to FTW. If it's modeling or painting related, I've got my eye on it.

One of the first new features that will be coming is a basing and weathering series by fellow FTW member misterjustin. I'm excited to see what he has in stock and I'm sure the step by step articles he puts together will be amazing.

Blog Layout
I'm determined to find the best layout for the site. I think I've got something that works now so I'm sticking with it. It may not be the fanciest out there but it works fairly well I think. As I find new things that will help the FTW site grow, I'll be adding them.

All in all, I'm going to keep FTW focused on the hobby (specifically modeling and painting) and the FTW Blogger Group. Along with the weekly features by the great Authors here, I'll try to keep adding some of my own projects and tutorials. I want FTW to continue to grow as a quality site for all 40k hobbyists and Bloggers in particular.

And I would be a huge idiot if I didn't thank everyone who has supported me, the FTW site and the Blogger Group over the past year.
This place is what it is because of it's readers.

Thank you.

UPDATE: This post is fairly old and FTW has since experienced a number of changes. Sometimes it's nice to look back at where you came from and where you're going.

Ron, From the WarpIf you've got any questions about something in this post, shoot me a comment and I'll be glad to answer. Make sure to share your hobby tips and thoughts in the comments below!

  1. Here's to a prosperous 2010 mate. Keep up the good work.

  2. Well done all around ron. You have done a great job pulling all of us into this great blogging system. I for one would net have gotten as many ideas without so cheers to you and 2010!

  3. Thank you for starting and organizing the Community Ron. FTW got me blogging and helped me to starting thinking about 40K in new ways I probably never would have come up with on my own. Now I'm going crazy expanding my blog and new Youtube channel and it is all thanks to FTW.

    Keep up the great work!

  4. Thanks again for all of your hard work and commitment to the community. You've built a really incredible resource and I'm really happy that I get to be a part of it.

  5. I think this is quickly becoming one of the best all around hobby resource sites.

    Good job.

  6. Thank you Ron. And I wouldn't call these New Years resolutions, but Goals -- Resolutions get forgotten, Goals get accomplished.

  7. I love FTW, keep it up man. I look forward to the New Year's changes.

  8. Thanks guys, it's been a tough haul sometimes but it's definitely worth it so far.

  9. Well, you know where I stand: thanks for all your efforts, and all the best of British for the new year.

2010 is - of course - The Future.

  10. Big fan as well, FTW has really opened up a world to me besides the normal forum-based interaction with fellow miniature gaming fans. Tons and tons of blogs indeed, breaching the 500 would be seriously impressive though.

So thanks for all the great work Ron and have a great new year, and related celebration of course!

  11. Your site is fantastic, but more so I really appreciate all of your efforts on the FTW Bloggers groups etc... I have found so many new and interesting blogs throught the site and really feel that you are trying to make this a community. Great work, awesome 2009, and best wishes for an even better 2010.

  12. Well done, sir!

As somebody new to the hobby, it's been invaluable to have all this in one tidy place. Thanks again for all your hard work.

    Happy New Year!!
