My wife has been known to paint a model

This was just too good not to post.

Last night, my Wife asked if she could paint one of my models. After the initial shock, I calmly and cooly replied, "Sure, no problem" and tried to pass it off like all the guy's wives do this kind of thing.

I'll tell you this much, I knew I was in trouble when she said to me (and this is no exaggeration)...

"Maybe I just need to drybrush it after the wash dries."

Pics of the model and the rest of the story here.

  4. Haha, I had about the same reaction when my wife decided to paint a few wood elves for her desk. I let her practice on a few old dwarfs first, so she could learn without messing anything important up.

  5. I remember about ten years ago when my wife woke me to show me a nid warrior she's decided to paint because she couldn't sleep.

I don't know which was worse, the fact that at that moment, I realised that my artistic wife is a far better painter than I'll ever be or the fact that she hasn't picked up a mini since.

Congrats on the conversion mate, now all you have to cover is terrain making and playing and you have the perfect relationship.

  6. do you talk whilst you paint then, she's slowley picking up tips and then she'll take over you're hobby MUHAHAHAHA!... either that or you're one of the luckiest guys around.

Out of curiosity what did she paint?

And does anyone know why I'm up a 10:30 on a saturday morning?

  7. Good work Ron, now you just need her to get out a file and do flash removal or throw down some dice in an actual game. My wife already has her own expensive hobby and a blog with the same number of followers as FtW so I am not going to be able to show her the light.

  9. In two months you'll be saying "Damn, she paints better than I do" -- at least that's what happened to me.

  10. She thought she wouldn't get any comments here about it either, she's planning on finishing the model tonight.

And she's asked if she could paint another one too!

  11. Awesome Ron,

I too recently got my girlfriend into the hobby. now after Magnetizing her Carnifex and warriors, she's painted all the Gaunts and plans on picking up another 'nid battle force.

    Yes we are really lucky.

  12. Quite a lucky guy you are. The family that paints together, stays together as they say... or was it the family that paints together becomes competitive and fights a lot? Whatever. You are a lucky guy Ron!

  14. You know the werebear and wereshark in the display case at the store? Cathy painted those. She's also helped me pull out a couple late night last minute armies for Flames of War.

  15. I feel blessed that my girlfriend actually knows what Skaven and Eldar are. But that's about where her involvement in the hobby ends. Your wife has set the bar high, Ron.

    *shakes his fist*

  16. My wife calls me a heretic all the time for (in her words) "defiling her Emperor-loving Leman Russes" (one of my traitor Russes used to be hers). True love, eh? :)

Can't wait to see the finished model!
